Accessible documents policy
If your organisation publishes PDFs and other non-HTML documents on the main GOV.UK website it must publish an accessible documents policy.
The policy should cover:
- what document types your organisation publishes
- how accessible your documents are
- how users can request accessible formats
If you create an accessible documents policy, a link to it will appear automatically in the ‘Corporate information’ section on your organisation and ‘About us’ pages.
Use this sample accessible documents policy to help you write yours. It explains what you need to cover and which forms of wording are legally required.
The policy should be owned and maintained by the person in charge of publishing in your organisation.
